GD 2 Library |
|
The GD 2 library (also known as GD or GDlib) is a programming library for the dynamic creation and manipulation of graphics. GD2 allows PNG, JPEG and WBMP files to be written. It also enables the generation of True Color images - previously only 256 colours were possible. The scope of functionality includes the drawing of lines, right-angles, polygons, curves and ellipses, as well as text with built-in TrueType or Postscript fonts. In addition, images or selections of images can be read in from files and manipulated. Alpha channels with 7 bits are supported. A typical use of GD2 is the dynamic creation of web graphics with PHP, for example for diagrams or creating thumbnails. |
